Procedure for submission to
the
Journal of the Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin
Authors are encouraged to submit
manuscripts to be considered for publication in the Journal of the Pharmacy
Society of Wisconsin (JPSW) Manuscripts should be submitted
electronically to JPSW Editor Anna Legreid Dopp at
annad@pswi.org.
Letter of
Transmittal
State in one or two sentences the content and importance of the
manuscript. Include the name and contact information of the corresponding
author. If the content of the manuscript has been presented previously at a
meeting, indicate the name, location, and date of the meeting.
Include a statement describing
any perceived conflict of interest pertaining to the subject of the
manuscript.
Style and
Copyright Requirements
Identify each author, giving
highest academic degree, position, and place of employment.
For example:

Please
submit a title and subtitle for your article. The title
should capture the interest and attention of the reader. As a subtitle,
summarize the article in one or two sentences. Taken together, the title and
summary subtitle should compel your colleagues to read the article.
The manuscript should be
double-spaced, including tables, references, figure captions and author
identification.
Please submit all text copy
electronically in MS Word format.
If the manuscript contains any
previously published material, including figures and tables, include copies
of permission to reproduce.
Full-length articles should be
limited to approximately 1,500 words. Abstracts are not required.
CE articles will be approximately 3,000 words. Please see CE article
guidelines below for more information.
Authors are advised to examine
current issues of the JPSW to familiarize themselves with JPSW
conventions and styles. In general, JPSW style conforms to the
Merriam Webster Collegiate Dictionary and The Associated Press Stylebook.
When reporting studies involving
human subjects, indicate whether the study was approved by an institutional
review board.
Authors of all published
material in JPSW acknowledge transfer of copyright ownership in all
forms to the Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin.
Graphics,
Tables and Photos
Please submit tables electronically in any one of the following
formats: EPS, PowerPoint, Word, or PDF. Please do not send printed or
camera-ready tables. In some cases, tables will be reformatted for space or
style.
Data tables or article
appendices that are too large to be published in their entirety in the
JPSW may be made available online at pswi.org.
Artwork will be printed in black and white only.
Original photos or high resolution electronic
files are preferred. Electronic photos must be taken at the highest setting
possible. If scanning your own photos, the resulting file must be 300 dpi.
Note: Photos scanned for use on the web are not acceptable due to their
low resolution.
Peer Review
JPSW offers the opportunity for peer review for scholarly papers
such as therapeutic reviews, descriptions of innovative programs and
services, and original investigation. At the time of submission, authors
should indicate their desire for the manuscript to undergo peer review.
Authors are encouraged to supply the names and contact information for two
individuals who are qualified to review the manuscript. All peer reviewed
manuscripts published in JPSW will be identified in the Journal
as “peer reviewed”.

Articles
for Continuing
Education
The Journal of the Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin frequently
features homestudy activities for pharmacist and pharmacy
technician continuing education. Authors are
encouraged to submit articles that may be appropriate for continuing
education of pharmacy professionals.
CE articles
must include:
3,000
– 6,000 words to provide
for at least 50 minutes of continuing education
(including the time it takes to read the article and complete the set of assessment
questions.

Letters to the Editor
Readers are encouraged to submit
brief letters to the editor addressing previously published material in
JPSW or offering an opinion on a contemporary professional issue.
Letters selected for publication will be at the discretion of the Editor.
Full-length commentaries will be by invitation of the Editor.
Policy on
Reprint Permission
It is the policy of the
Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin and the Journal of the Pharmacy Society of
Wisconsin (JPSW) to grant permission to other nonprofit pharmacy
organizations to reprint most materials published in JPSW.
Permission will be granted free of charge with the expectation that
reprinted materials appropriately cite JPSW as the original source of
the article. A suggested citation is as follows:
Reprinted with permission of the Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin.
Originally published in the Journal of the Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin
(insert month and year of publication).
