CONFERENCE GOAL
The 2008 PSW Spring Senior Care Conference will provide conference attendees with information and materials that will enable them to better serve the needs and manage the therapies of geriatric patients residing in long term care facilities and within the community.

TARGET AUDIENCE
Pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, pharmacy students and other health care professionals and caregivers involved in the care of elderly and other patients in skilled or residential care.

CONFERENCE OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of the Conference, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians will be able to:
Discuss new medications available for the treatment of over active bladder and treatment considerations for elderly patients
Identify ways to improve your ability to lead your patients and your practice in positive directions
Compare and contrast various therapies used in the treatment of Congestive Heart Failure
Describe oral health concerns for elderly patients, practical recommendations for patients to improve their oral health, and the impact medications have on the oral health of geriatric patients
Identify the most common symptoms patients experience as they near death and the medications used to manage these symptoms
Identify alternative routes of medication administration necessary to provide symptom management to dying patients
Describe the use of medications to treat the complications of Parkinson’s Disease and identify medications that can be used for symptom management

CONTINUING EDUCATION
The Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. Attendees may earn 6 hours (0.6 CEUs) of continuing education credit for attending the program in its entirety. Participants completing evaluations and attendance forms onsite will receive a CE statement within 4-6 weeks by mail for demonstrating program completion.
