Director At Large Candidates

William Peppard

After graduating from St. Louis College of Pharmacy, I completed a PGY-1 residency and spent 16 years practicing in the trauma/surgical ICU at Froedtert Hospital. During this time, I established the PGY2 critical care residency and collaborated to develop the Pharmacy Research Certificate program. I am board-certified in pharmacotherapy and serve as a Fellow in the American College of Critical Care Medicine. For the last 5 years, serving as the F&MCW pain stewardship coordinator, my efforts focus on thoughtfully treating pain while addressing the opioid crisis and use disorder.

I have been an active PSW member by speaking at conferences, reviewing and authoring abstracts, writing for JPSW, participating in Legislative Days, and serving on the Educational Programming and Health-System Pharmacy Advisory Committees. I helped establish the Pain Stewardship member group and am currently serving on the PSW Board of Directors.

Statement of Purpose
In my professional roles, I have contributed to multidisciplinary teams at the local, state, and national levels to empower pharmacists to manage projects and leverage change in their own practices. Being involved with professional organizations has helped me better understand the perspectives of others and has demonstrated the importance of advocating for our discipline and having strong leaders in our professional organizations.

I believe that supporting PBM reform and generating opportunities for pharmacists and technicians to function at the top of their licensure and abilities are among the most important issues facing pharmacy practice. Additionally, continuing to provide optimal care in the setting of narrow and shrinking operating margins is particularly challenging, but is an issue that our profession must address because of its impact on professional burnout. The pharmacist and technician role in promoting population health continues to grow; the importance our discipline can play in educating the public and promoting harm-reduction strategies cannot be overstated.

Serving on the PSW Board of Directors for the past two years has offered me tremendous perspective on pharmacy-centric happenings beyond my immediate practice environment and I am grateful for that experience. I hope to continue supporting PSW in this capacity, as I have more to offer our discipline through servant leadership.

Statement of Purpose
Thanks to the Wisconsin pharmacists who tirelessly work to lower barriers to care, advocate for optimal therapeutic outcomes, and advance pharmacists as providers. It is obvious that our PSW’s One Voice, One Vision provides a foundation to best serve our patients.

As PSW Member at Large, it is my goal to represent all pharmacists as a profession. I am a community pharmacist, but our healthcare system links us all together. The breakdown of any one of our practices has a ripple effect throughout the region in which we work. Our profession does incredible work in the face of great adversity. However, we have an unsustainable reimbursement structure that is causing the closure of community pharmacies and hospitals across the state. This issue contributes to burnout, and negatively impacts our professional pipeline. I am seeking a PSW Board Member at Large seat to support PSW as it navigates these issues legislatively with grass roots activities, professionally with educational programming, and collectively by offering a platform for us to support one another. I would appreciate your vote.
