Pharmacy Technician Leadership Academy 

Initiated in 2025, the PSW Pharmacy Technician Leadership Academy seeks to foster a sense of professional connection and inspiration among advanced, enthusiastic pharmacy technicians. Academy participants build lasting and meaningful relationship with peers, helping to advance their professional journeys, while also receiving tools and resources to promote leadership development, master critical conversations, embrace and optimize emotional intelligence, and to capitalize when offering and receiving feedback. The experience connects participants with like-minded peers, empowering them to take the next steps in their careers. The PSW Pharmacy Technician Leadership Academy strives to offer an environment to develop and optimize leadership skills and to help build a supportive community of future pharmacy technician leaders!

Eligibility

PSW welcomes applications from or nominations of those who represent diversity in race, color, ethnicity, culture, national origin, sexual orientation, age, gender, gender identity, social class, physical ability/attributes, religious or ethical value systems, language, pharmacy practice area, geographic location, and other perspective shaping backgrounds.
  • Current PSW member pharmacy technician who reside and/or practice in Wisconsin are eligible to apply.
  • Pharmacy technician applicants are NOT required to be Certified.

Application

The application for the 2026 PSW Pharmacy Technician Leadership Academy will open on December 1, 2025 and close February 1, 2026. Nominees will be notified of the status of their application by March 1, 2026.

All eligible applications received prior to the deadline for submission are reviewed by a reviewer panel. Ten (10) participants from Wisconsin shall be selected. Those applicants not selected are encouraged to submit an application the following year.

Conference Goals

  1. Provide conference participants with strong leadership training
  2. Encourage the involvement of all new practitioners in professional and community activities
  3. Demonstrate PSW's ongoing desire to aid in the development of pharmacy technicians to acquire leadership positions within the profession

 

Sample Agenda

2 Day In-Person Workshop
Location: PSW Offices - Madison, WI
When: Third Thursday/Friday in May
  • Day 1: Welcome Reception & Team-Building
    • Meal, Team-Building, Overnight Stay and Networking
  • Day 2: Leadership Workshop
    • Breakfast/Lunch, 3-4 Educational Leadership Sessions, Self-Reflection and Sharing

Monthly Virtual Meetings
Location: After completion of on-line learning module - virtual meeting (90 minutes)
When: June, July, August, September
  • 30 Minutes – Reflection/Review of last month
  • 60 Minutes – Lecture/Speaker/Coaching followed by group work, role-play, group discussion

Recognition at PSW Annual Meeting

The graduating cohort will be recognized at the PSW Annual Meeting Technician Luncheon each year.
