Pain Management and Stewardship

Pharmacy professionals play a crucial role in providing patient care for pain management and stewardship. Helping patients manage pain encompasses the foundations of pain care and patient communication; clinical practice guidelines and stewardship frameworks; pharmacological pain management; nonpharmacological and behavioral pain management; interprofessional community resources; safe use, storage, and disposal of medications; and professional development and training. These resources are intended to support pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and student pharmacists in providing evidence-based, patient-centered care, and to enhance opioid stewardship efforts across Wisconsin.
